How to do influencer marketing : step by step - ✨simplified✨

How to do influencer marketing : step by step - let’s keep this simple!

Influencer marketing is booming! And let me just tell you why:

Influencer marketing works because it uses tactics like word-of-mouth marketing and social proof.

Why do you think brands and marketers rely heavily on influencers for marketing?

It’s because customers trust social proof and recommendations from real people way more than advertisements from brands.

Influencers are trusted by their followers immensely.

Let’s just quickly take a look at Estrid:

They are LEADING the way with their influencer campaigns and it WORKS.

By collaborating with purpose-led creators.

Estrid was founded in 2019 and now at 229k follows on Instagram.📲

👏🏼 Since the very start - they have prioritised influencers as their main marketing tool.

Their message has been shared through 1000+ accounts.

NOT JUST ONE📱

But over 1000 Instagram accounts.

Their message is amplified.

🤞🏼They have built trust, brand awareness and customer loyalty.

Definitely a brand to take inspiration from when it comes to influencer collaborations.🤩

I’ll leave a very interesting article about this at the end off the blog post - make sure to check it out!

But anyways… let’s get into the step by step to influencer campaigns.

  1. The first step is to find the right influencers.

Then go alllll in on your outreach. Keep track of who you are reaching out to and you will most likely have to reach out to 70% more than you want to collaborate with (especially fro less established brands)

🌟 TOP TIP

It’s a good idea to collaborate with an influencer who believes in the same values as your brand.

That way, the collaboration seems authentic.

Once you’ve found your match, what kind of content should you ask them to create?

72% of consumers say they only engage with marketing messages that are customised to their specific interests.

2. Define your goals as a brand

+ decide on the campaign!

What do you want from the collaboration?

To generate sales?

To increase your following?

To increase brand awareness?

To gain lots of content?

Define your goal and this will also help you to choose the right influencer - do they seem like a person who can bring you closer to that goal? Does their content reflect this?

At Locus we work with our creators in three main ways:

The one-off creators📲 The content Queens👑 and The Loyal Ones😎

This way we can create a plan for our brands based on their goals. Our favourite collaborations has to be with the Loyal Ones - read more on our home page about each option.

Our ‘loyal ones’ allow you to have creators as advocated for your brand; meaning that if you like working with them, you can make it a long term thing🦋

3. Briefing and follow-ups😵‍💫

The fun but also not-so-fun part.

This is when you really realise whether you chose the right influencers or not … and let’s hope you did!

Here are just a few things that you should touch on in your briefs:

  • Campaign type

  • Reason for the collaboration (to promote a launch, generate follows etc.)

  • Compensation (what you will be offering the creator) - If it’s unpaid then try and go above and beyond for your creator to make their experience one they won’t forget

  • The deliverable (what you want from the creator)

  • Instructions / creative direction for the content

  • Any do’s or don’t’s

  • The contract

  • Where you have permission to share the content and how long for

A fully detailed blog post about briefs will be coming soon, but in the meantime - subscribe to our mailing list!

In terms of follow-ups, you should have a time frame of when you want the content to be shared. This usually requires brands to follow up quite a lot to make sure to get that content on time⏰

🌟 TOP TIP

Send a simple IG DM to your creators! Send a DM a few days before the camping needs to go live - just as a friend check-up (and reminder) see if they ahve any questions etc.

4. Analysing👀💸

Now it’s time to look at your analytics and any UTM links you might have used.

Then you can ask yourself; were they a good influencer to collaborate with? Will we work with them again?💭

At Locus, we analyse the campaigns and collaborations for you, making sure that you are working with the best creators to reach your goals.

The main questions: Did they take you closer to your brand goals, or will they?

➡️ Were they easy to work with?

➡️ Did the creator fulfil the brief?

After reading these 4 steps we hope that you know how influencer marketing really works🌟

To keep It simple; you are using creators with a social following to help promote your brand.

There are just a lot of factors which can go into this.

This was super simple and we will be sharing more posts about about all aspect of working with influencers! So make sure to subscribe to our mailing list👇🏼
